7 Resolutions for A Clutter-Free New Year 2020

Once the holidays are over and you’ve welcomed in the New Year, it’s the perfect time to take steps to be clutter-free in 2020. Keeping your resolution to declutter relies on a thought-out approach that you can follow systematically. Once you see how much easier it is to live and work without clutter, you won’t have it any other way.

Resolution #1: Start with Your Storage Space

Closets, garages, attics, and basements tend to get cluttered faster than your living space. Start by getting rid of items that are no longer useful or that don’t work. Clear your storage space for all the items you decide to keep from the rest of your house.

Resolution #2: Donate, Give Away, Sell, Throw Out

If you don’t want or need it and it has no sentimental value, get rid of it. Start with four boxes labeled donate, give away, sell, and throw out. If you haven’t used it in a year or more, it isn’t doing you any good taking up space.

Resolution #3: Out with the Old, In with the New

If you have new throw cushions for the sofa or a new toaster, don’t hang onto the old ones. Get rid of the old ones and start enjoying the new replacement.

Resolution #4: Go Through DVDs, Books, and Magazines

Outdated movies, books, and magazines aren’t doing anything but collecting dust and taking up valuable space. It’s time to let them go.  Check out https://www.decluttr.com/ if you want to try to sell your old CDs, DVDs and other tech.

Resolution #5: Don’t Forget Your Car and Your Workspace

You probably spend more time in your car and in your office than any other area of your home. De-clutter all of your living space, no matter where it is.

Resolution #6: Purchase Storage and Organization Tools

Once you have an idea of what you’re going to keep, you can purchase storage tools to make your space more efficient. Having a place for everything will make it easy to stay clutter-free during the New Year and beyond 2020.

Resolution #7: Do a Deep Clean

Once you empty out a space, clean the floors, walls, and any fixtures or furnishings. Starting with a clean room or space will inspire you to keep it that way.

You don’t have to wait until New Year’s to start getting rid of the clutter. Any time is a good time to finally get rid of the clutter once and for all!
