The words “summer” and “organization tips” don’t always go hand in hand. Summer is a time when it’s tempting to drop everything and forget about all those tasks you’re worrying about for the rest of the year. However, this doesn’t need to be the case. Take a look at our tips and have the best of both worlds — getting organized while still enjoying your summer.
Schedule on- and off-time
Summer is the favorite time of year for many people, but it can also be stressful and overwhelming. Like Christmas, summer puts pressure on people to enjoy themselves, which leaves them feeling guilty or somehow wrong if they find themselves working on other tasks while everyone else — seemingly — is having fun. There are physical health concerns, too, including heat stress and fatigue if we find ourselves working too hard.
Of course, organization, work, and other important jobs don’t just stop because the sun is out. However, you owe it to yourself to have some time off here and there. Schedule a time for turning off your smartphone, muting your emails, and just being you.
Prepare itineraries for trips
Trips and vacations are more examples of where fun and extreme pressure collide. Get the most out of your trips by preparing itineraries ahead of time — you can always improvise during the vacation, but having an itinerary will give you a backup level of organization.
Bring organization outside
If it’s nice outside, why not step out into a shady place or onto your patio or decking and get organized there? Whether you are organizing digital photos, juggling your finances on a spreadsheet, or even just putting together a to-do list, this is going to be a far more pleasant task if you can enjoy some sunshine at the same time.
Automate wherever you can
Choose digital organization tools with automated functions. This way, you can program automated responses and achieve far greater productivity, leaving you with more time to enjoy your summer.
