It’s time to look to the future and think about getting organized in 2024! Unfortunately, this means confronting some inconvenient truths as you get into the mindset of organizing.
So, without further ado, here are three things you might not want to hear. Don’t worry — once you get started, it’s not so bad.
You Must Commit to a System
The whole idea of a system is to create a central thread that ties everything together. For example, you might have lots of different files, pictures, and other documents — choosing the best system for organizing makes sure these different bits and pieces are easy to find.
If you’ve got lots of different systems, the whole thing starts to fall apart. Choose one and commit to it!
You Must Create a New Routine or Habit
Getting organized takes effort, but you want this effort to get easier over time. In other words, you want to bring about a new routine or habit. Once you’ve created this habit, organization will feel like second nature, making it easier to stay on the right track.
But you’ve got to get there first!
You Must Use One of Your Three Most Precious Resources
Your three most precious resources are time, money, and energy. You will need to spend one of these things when you are getting organized in 2024.
Basically, you can conserve two out of the three, but you will need to decide whether you want to put the time in, use up some energy, or spend some money to get where you need to be. Decide which one you’re going to use as you get into the mindset of organizing.
