Welcome back for Part 4 of our series on the mindset of organizing!

This is a big one – a huge inconvenient truth that you’ll need to confront when you’re getting organized in 2024: You need to use one of your precious resources.

What does this mean? Let’s take a look.

Here are your three precious resources:

Resource #1: Time

Quick fixes are always tempting. As humans, we tend to prefer the fastest route to success. However, it may take time to find and implement the best system for organizing.

Resource #2: Money

We certainly all want to save money, and many of us have got this down to a fine art. Just bear in mind that sometimes you’ll need to pay real money on your organization journey.

Resource #3: Energy

The path of least resistance is very real. It’s natural to gravitate towards the lowest-effort solution. But in some cases, you may need to apply some energy as you get organized.

Take Your Pick

So what’s the answer? Should you prepare to throw money at the problem, sacrifice your time, and expend a load of energy? No, not at all!

  • You can save time as you’re getting organized in 2024.

  • You can save money too, and save energy.

  • The point is… you can’t save all three at the same time to get ahead on your digital organization.

You’ll need to:

  • Spend some time on creating and implementing your new organizational system and fostering easy, low-cost habits that get you where you need to be.

or

  • Spend some money to get the help and/or a handy solution that gives you more free time and saves a lot of effort.

or

  • Spend some of your energy on coming up an organization method that will do the job quickly and implement it.

The inconvenient truth is that the best system for organizing requires at least one of these paths. Your best bet is to make sure you’re only using one of your precious resources.

So which will it be?
